Stone Ordering Process

Are you in need  of new stone countertops? If so, you may find yourself asking, “Where do I start?”.

By the end of this post you should be a pro on what you need to proceed with your project!

Our company is a full service stone fabricator and installation shop located in Denver, Colorado. Our custom fabrication and installations include materials such as granite, marble, quartz, quartzite, onyx, limestone, travertine and recycled glass. We understand that ordering your stone for your project can be an involved process, and we want to help you from start to finish.

First, you will want to determine what kind of stone/material is right for your project. Once you have an idea on the type of material the next step is to start looking at actual colors of the material. You can view full slabs at the slab supplier’s warehouses. Be sure to write down the names of the material you would like an estimate on and give your list to your fabricator along with a drawing with dimensions you would like priced out in your estimate.

Be sure to tell your fabricator what edge you would like to have, along with what kind of sink(s) you will be using (undermount, topmount or vessel), backsplash information and if your project requires tear out of your existing countertops. If you require rip out, you will need to disclose what is currently on the countertops to receive an estimate on this portion of the work.

After you have an estimate and are ready to move forward, the template can be scheduled. If you are using the existing cabinets, the template can typically be done with the existing countertops in place, there are situations that come up to where the old countertops will need to be removed prior to the template being done. If you are using new cabinets, please call the fabricator once all cabinets have been installed, and templates can be made.

Prior to scheduling your templating appointment, the following must be completed:

  • All cabinets must be level and properly secured.
  • Cabinets must be installed in their final location. Moving or uninstalled cabinets can result in a mis-measurement, resulting in a poor fit.

Fabrication

To start the fabrication process, we need to have your template completed, material, edge detail, backsplash information and sink(s) at our office to start customizing your countertops.

Installation

Once the fabrication of your countertops are complete or near completion we will give you a call to schedule your installation date. On the day of your installation, be sure to clear all installation areas of clutter, trip hazards and general items for our installers.

Once the installation is complete, your new countertops will be sealed to help protect your stone for years to come! (Quartz products is excluded from sealing).
